Sileby Town are rocked by four goal blitz in first half

IN the Everard’s Premier Division Glenfield United surprised Sileby Town with a four-goal first half onslaught from which the Town never recovered and slipped to one point from the last five starts whilst Glenfield moved back into the top four.

Hathern returned to winning ways with 2-1 away victory at FC Khalsa GAD after goals either side of the break from Jack Maclachian and Lloyd Tapper cancelled out the Ricky Gill second half reply.

Northfield Emeralds were undone at home by Desford who came from 2-1 down at half time to claim all three points with a 6-3 win and remain unbeaten in their last four starts. Niall Fall, Dante Naute-Brown and Lloyd Nelson Jr were the Emeralds marksmen up against a hat-trick from Harry Jarvis added to by a brace from Callum Brown and the visiting score completed by Macauley Parnell.

In League One, Friar Lane & Epworth Res posted their first point in three starts with a 2-2 draw against bottom-placed Loughborou­gh after Jon Ackroyd and Ryan Rowley scored a goal in each half. New signing Charlie Crawley and Gareth Hussey replied for the Luffs, a point that lifts them off the bottom spot.

Ingles Res made it three wins on the spin with a 5-2 defeat of Barrow Town Res with Connor Bennett claiming four of the strikes and Dean Pell the other goal. Jamil Chowdhury and Ben Eames were accredited with the Barrow reply as they slipped to their second successive defeat.

Earl Shilton Albion picked up their first point in three starts with a 3-1 defeat of Saffron Dynamo Res after leading 2-0 at the break. Matt Pratt scored two whilst Jack Stafford added a bullet header. Harry Stephens scored the Dynamo consolatio­n as both teams remain in the lower reached of the division.

Barlestone St Giles may have turned the corner with their second successive win, 5-0 over Birstall Utd Res, which sends them to the foot of table. Dan Morris claimed the match ball with an hat trick and Ben Gascoigne and Matt Angell completed the home side scoring and an early double over visitors.

In Everards League Two, Sutton Bonington had to come from behind to claim a point in a 2-2 draw at Desford, who led 2-1 at the break, after Ryan Betts and Jack Spence gave the home side the advantage. Sutton saw their winning run of three ended as Jordan Crosland converted a penalty and Zach Jackson scored.

Sileby Town Res returned to winning ways with 2-0 defeat of Rothley Imperial, both goals coming in the second half as Joe Hetterley converted a penalty with Connor Packwood also on target.
