In the market for jobs help, dedication and card designs
IF you were passing through Loughborough Market Place on August 31 and September 1, you may have been greeted by a slightly different market than many of us have been used to.
Instead of stalls selling fruit and veg, you will have seen local employers advertising their job vacancies.
This was, of course, Loughborough’s first ever “Jobs Market”, hosted by me, Loughborough College and Charnwood Borough Council.
There were hundreds of job openings advertised over the two days, and I was delighted to see so many people visiting the Market Place to find out more about the vacancies available on our doorstep.
We were visited by college leavers who had just received their exam results, as well as those who had been working for several years and were looking to change their career.
I was thrilled to see so much interest in the Jobs Market from potential employees and I have already learnt of one employer who has recruited someone who had visited them on the two days.
The event may be over, but there are still hundreds of vacancies. There has never been a better time to find employment or embark on a new career. The new Careers and Enterprise Hub in Loughborough can help, with free expert advice and guidance available. Do pop in or visit them online at www.loucoll.ac. uk/careers-hub.
There, you will find all the latest vacancies as well as information about how you can get in touch. My thanks go to everyone from Loughborough College and the careers hub for making the event possible, as well as to Charnwood Borough Council for the use of the market.
This year marks 100 years of Remembrance as we know it today as the Royal British Legion (RBL) marks its centenary. The RBL is working with the Speaker’s Office in Parliament this year to install a House of Commons Constituency Garden of Remembrance in New Palace Yard in the Palace of Westminster. The RBL is committed to ensuring the service and sacrifice of those men and women from Britain and the Commonwealth, who gave everything to protect our freedoms, shall never be forgotten.
This year, all MPs are able to participate in an act of Remembrance collectively at the House of Commons for the first time, where all 650 constituencies can be represented and remembered in a single place.
In the days leading up to November 11, I will be planting a Remembrance marker in the House of Commons Constituency Garden of Remembrance. I am looking to dedicate my Remembrance tribute to an individual, regiment or community that has a connection with the
Loughborough constituency. If you are aware of someone (or a group) who I should dedicate my tribute to, please let me know details, by filling out a form on my website: www. janehunt.uk/house-commons-constituency
Finally, I wanted to mention the Christmas card competition I have launched for all primary school children in the constituency to design my 2021 Christmas card.
The winning entry will feature as the design of my card alongside the name and school of the winning pupil, to be sent to hundreds of residents, community groups, and businesses right across our community. The deadline for entry is Sunday, October 31. For more information on how to enter, please visit my website at www.janehunt.uk/christmascard-competition.
As ever, if I can be of any assistance, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.
