Warriors see their three match winning run ended

TELSTARS 58 CHARNWOOD WARRIORS 52

CHARWOOD Warriors made the long trip to Kent to play Telstars in England Netball’s Premier League Two.

Warriors started the match unsettled with Telstars coming out with great speed on attack and aggression on defence, however the senior combination of Robinson and Griffin kept Warriors calm taking an early lead 15-11.

In the second quarter Telstars came out quicker with Warriors struggling to adjust to the pace of the game, Thacker kept a cool head managing to score under pressure, but Telstars had the edge leading by one at half time 27-26.

Warriors made some changes with Gallacher and Lount entering the court.

The match was highly contested going goal for goal with Bowen and McGlynn unable to close down Telstars strong attacking unit as the third quarter finished 43-42 to Telstars.

The final quarter was all to play for, Warriors started off well with Brock-Taylor bringing speed to the mid court, the match was neck and neck until the last four minutes.

Warriors made a great turn over that they needed to convert to take the lead. Unfortunately, Telstars experience shone through forcing Warriors to make some un-characteristic mistakes and lose any momentum they had.

Warriors lost 58-52, a tough and disappointing loss but lots of lessons learnt and areas to work on.

Warriors next match is at home on November 7 against top of the table Cumberland.

Meanwhile Warriors senior regional team played Bridgford in East Midlands senior regional league, Division 1 and Warriors remain undefeated winning 66-41.
