Delays after M1 accident
A crash involving a lorry and a car closed several lanes of the M1 on Thursday morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene, on the southbound carriageway between Junction 22 for Markfield and Junction 21 for Fosse Park.
Three out of the four lanes were closed at one stage, leading to long delays and travel times through the area of over half-anhour.
Traffic website Inrix reported that the vehicles hit the central reservation close to Leicester Forest East Services, with resulting tailbacks of up to six miles.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes as congestion built on surrounding roads.
Police later confirmed that no-one was injured in the collision, and that the fire service was not needed.
The lanes were open again by 10.30am.
