Seven hurt in pile-up on the M1
BROKEN BONES AS EIGHT VEHICLES IN COLLISION NEAR JUNCTION 23
POLICE say seven people were injured in a motorway crash involving eight vehicles.
The slow lane of the M1 near East Midlands Airport was closed overnight after the crash at 10.30pm on Wednesday October 20, while repairs were made to the road surface.

In a statement, police said: “Officers are appealing for witnesses after a number of vehicles were involved in a collision on the M1.
“The collision was reported at 10.30pm on the northbound carriageway, about half a mile from Junction 23.
“Two HGVs, two cars and four vans were involved in the collision.
“Seven people were injured, some sustaining broken bones, but none of the injuries are thought to be lifethreatening or life-changing.
“The vehicles were all queuing to leave the motorway at Junction 23, due to closures further along the motorway.
“A number of people may have witnessed what happened and officers are keen to speak to anyone who was travelling along the M1 around the time of the incident and may have witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it.
“Also, if anyone has video recording equipment installed in their vehicle officers would encourage them to check the footage and get in touch if they captured anything which may assist with the investigation.”
