Protect animals from indiscriminate cruelty

-

DID you know that snares are still used in Britain, and that every year countless animals are caught in these shockingly painful wire nooses?

Some gamekeepers and farmers use snares to trap animals, such as foxes and rabbits, by the leg or neck. But snares are indiscriminate: more than half of the animals caught are “non-target” ones, including cats and dogs.

Snares are designed to trap an animal until the person who set them returns.

The traps should be checked daily, but often aren’t, which can lead to a prolonged death from thirst, starvation or predation.

Even if the snares are checked every day, the trapped animals can become extremely distressed and will try to escape, resulting in the wire cutting into their flesh, causing extremely painful or fatal injuries.

Animal Aid is working hard to ensure a ban on snares is introduced.

Please could you help by signing a petition on the government website, which will be debated in parliament if it reaches 100,000 signatures?

Please urgently (before November 4) sign the petition by visiting: animalaid.org.uk/snarespetition
