Man killed in ‘shocking’ suspected hit-andrun in village

A 60-year-old man has died after being knocked down by a vehicle in a villagew.

The man was walking in Park Lane in Sutton Bonington, near Loughborou­gh, when he was knocked down shortly after 10pm on Saturday October 30.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers believe the vehicle involved fled the scene immediatel­y after the incident - and are now appealing to the public for further informatio­n.

Sergeant Sarah Stables, of investigat­ing force Nottingham­shire Police, said: “This is a shocking incident in which a man has tragically lost his life.

“We are working hard to find the vehicle and driver involved and would like to speak to anyone who may have additional informatio­n about what happened.”

Officers are now making door-todoor enquiries in the area and want to speak to anyone who has informatio­n.

Nottingham­shire Police are keen to speak to anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage and drivers who might have seen a vehicle leaving the area which could be a “vital clue” in the case.
