Passenger dies following a four-vehicle crash near Six Hills
MAN IN HOSPITAL FIGHTING FOR LIFE AFTER SEPARATE INCIDENT
A man has died following a fourvehicle collision on a busy B-road on Sunday afternoon.
The collision, which involved a grey Volvo XC90, a white Ford flatbed tipper truck, a silver VW Transporter and a grey Toyota Landcruiser, happened at about 4.15pm on the B676 Six Hills Lane, near the A46 at Six Hills.
A man, who was a rear passenger in the Landcruiser, suffered serious injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other people in the Landcruiser also suffered injuries but they are not believed to be lifethreatening.
Three people in the Volvo were taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre, in Nottingham, but their injuries are also not believed to be serious.
No-one else was injured in the collision.
The crash saw Six Hills Lane closed for more than six hours while police carried out initial inquiries.
They are now keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the crash to aid their investigation.
“Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or saw any of the vehicles beforehand,” said a force spokesman.
“Also, if anyone has video recording equipment installed in their vehicles they are urged to check the footage and contact officers of they captured anything that may assist with the investigation.”
A man is also in a critical condition in hospital after a crash between two vehicles on the A42 on Sunday night. The crash, which happened shortly after 7pm, took place between Junctions 11 and 12 on the westbound stretch of the A42 near Measham, and involved a blue Peugeot 108 and an HGV.
Police have confirmed the lorry was stationary at the time of the crash, parked in a bay at the side of the road.
The blue Peugeot is thought to have crossed two lanes of the A42 before coming to rest near the central reservation.
It is thought the car ended up on its roof, but police have not confirmed that detail.
Fire teams from Ashby and Burton were deployed to the scene, while a technical rescue team from the fire service’s Southern station was also dispatched to aid with the response.
The driver of the Peugeot sustained serious injuries and was taken to University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire, where he remains in critical condition.
Police are now looking to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision.
“If anyone was travelling along this road on Sunday evening and has video recording equipment installed in their vehicles they are asked to check the footage and get in touch if they captured anything that may help with inquiries,” a force spokesman said.
