Hard working It’s Your Neighbourhood group members have efforts recognised

-

LOUGHBOROUGH in Bloom’s hard working It’s Your Neighbourhood (IYN) groups, have had their efforts recognized at Covid friendly outdoor presentations across the town.

Twenty-eight groups received their awards from Helen Burgess, the main East Midlands in Bloom (EMIB) local assessor, on behalf of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) at small presentation events at Forest Road Green Belt, Thorpe Acre Village Green, Queen’s Park and Fearon Hall.

IYN is a non-competitive part of Britain in Bloom, promoted by the RHS, and each award comprised a certificate, graded from one to five: Establishing, Improving, Developing, Thriving and Outstanding; the Assessor’s Citation and a Gardening Gift Token.

Mike Jones, Chair of Loughborough in Bloom Community Participation Group, thanked all those concerned, firstly for entering IYN in the first place, secondly for their efforts during the year and finally for turning out to receive their awards in uncertain weather.

Helen responded by echoing these comments on behalf of the EMIB and RHS and went on to stress the value of local people working together to make Loughborough an even better place to live, work and visit.

She said: “Long may it continue.”
