NOTTINGHAM 4TH XI 0

CARILLON 1ST XI 14 LOUGHBOROUGH Carillon men scored 14 goals for the second game in a row as they comprehensively outplayed Nottingham on Saturday.

After a league wide break the team were raring to go and despite some absentees were able to name a strong side for this trip away. The home side had only won once so far this season; therefore, the game plan was to attack early and put them on the back foot immediately.

It was credit to the team that this plan was executed perfectly with a short corner being won on their first foray into the circle which Steve Livingstone slotted away. Two more quick fire goals from Alex Aldred and Tiernan Maguire, scoring his first for the club, stretched the lead within the first five minutes and took the game away from Nottingham.

Carillon continued their assault on the Nottingham goal and had further reward first as Ruaidhri Maguire joined his brother on the scoresheet before Tiernan turned provider passing to Harry White who tapped in against his old club to make it five without reply.

The first half drew to a close with further goals as Aldred wrapped up his first half hat-trick and Robbie Macdonald, playing his first game for a year, scored his first goal for the club with a tap in.

There was no let up for the beleaguered hosts as Carillon scored a further six times after the break. Firstly, Aldred scored his fourth before Ruaidhri Maguire scored his second of the game. It was then the turn of Livingstone and Macdonald to take over the goalscoring work as they both netted a further two times to both bring up their hat-tricks. This resounding win means that Carillon have now scored 50 goals in just five games without conceding, very impressive whatever the level.

Carillon 2nd XI also had a fruitful afternoon as they scored eight times without reply against Ashby 4th XI with notable performances from Billy Bolton and Ryan Gohill. Sadly, the 3rd XI game against North Notts was cancelled as the opposition couldn’t raise a side gifting the team a 5-0 win.
