Karting ace clinches title with 221 point margin...
LOUGHBOROUGH youngster Zac Starbuck has captured the UK LKR Independent kart championship crown - finishing a massive 221 points ahead of his nearest rival!
The final round on Sunday took place at Shenington and nine-year-old Starbuck finished second in three races and second in a close final, completing a season where he made the podium in every race including two first place finishes.
Mum Leigh Starbuck said Zac’s goal this season had been to claim the title after finishing second in the championship last year.
“We didn’t expect many if any podiums so to look back over his results this year is truly incredible. Half way through the season we switched to a new kart, going from a Synergy to a Project One kart so Zac had a lot of adapting to do but it proved to be the right call.”
It has been a busy season for the young kart ace as he has been involved in three different championship series.
In addition to winning the LKR Independent kart championship, Starbuck has been competing in the Whilton Mill Kart club championship where he is finished first in his last race and the Hunts Kart Club series at Kimbolton where he lies in third place with two rounds left to complete
Leigh added: “He is proving to be one to watch in the future. We are very lucky to have some amazing support from our sponsors, we couldn’t do it without them.”
