Jo Mayfield is re-elected as county captain

-

THE county ladies’ golf association re-elected its top two officials at its annual general meeting, held at Scraptoft GC.

President Karen Bonser (Willesley Park) and captain Jo Mayfield (Rothley Park) will both continue in office for another year.

Suzanne Pretty (Longcliffe) is the vice-captain and Alison Smith, a member of both Lingdale and Beedles Lake, is the new second team captain.

She has been a regular member of the county second team for the past four years during which time she has been a great support to the side – both on and off the course.

As second team skipper she succeeds Sue Holwell (Lingdale), who said: “I am sure Alison will continue to use her enthusiasm and commitment to great effect as we move forward into the 2022 season.”

There is also a new treasurer. Donna Canning (Beedles Lake), has been a member for 11 years and plays an active role at the club as ladies’ teams captain.

She has a background in managing her husband’s business accounts and is looking forward to the challenge of learning the operational system of the county ladies’ association accounts.

Caroline Simpson (Rothley Park) continues as county secretary, Anita Higginson (Kibworth) as junior organiser, Jo Corlett (Glen Gorse) competitions secretary, and Peggy Remington (Cosby) as England Golf representative, for what she said will be her sixth and final year.
