Town swim club nets an incredible 66 medals...

LOUGHBOROU­GH Town Swimming Club had another very successful weekend taking part in the Leicester Penguins Autumn Meet.

The team won a massive 66 medals, including 28 gold, 23 silver and 15 bronze with Abbie Ruddle winning an incredible eight gold and one silver medal.

Ruddle won gold in the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 50m and 100m breaststro­ke, 50m freestyle and 100m Individual Medley. She also won silver in the 100m freestyle.

She also achieved a qualifying time for the Swim England National Winter Championsh­ips taking place in Sheffield next month. This was in her final race of the weekend, her favoured event the 200m butterfly. it will be her first ever National standard competitio­n.

Elizabeth Palfrey swam to gold in the 100m & 200m backstroke and 100m & 200m Individual Medley. She also won silver medals in the 100m butterfly and 200m freestyle. 15-year-old Jack Goldfinch medalled in all his events, winning gold in the 200m freestyle, second in the 50m, 100m & 200m backstroke and third in the 100m freestyle.

Alfie Molloy, racing in the 14 years age group, took gold in the 50m breaststro­ke and 100m Individual Medley, silver in the 50m freestyle and 200m Individual Medley and bronze in the 100m freestyle.

In the same age group, Finn Reed took gold in the 100m & 200m breaststro­ke, silver in the 50m breaststro­ke and silver in the 400m freestyle and third in the 200m freestyle. James Lake, also 14, won gold in the 50m & 100m butterfly and 200m Individual Medley plus silver in the 200m freestyle.

Thomas Macmanard (14) won silver medals in the 50m & 100m backstroke and 100m breaststro­ke and was third in the 50m freestyle and 200m breaststro­ke.

Francesca Palfrey (15) won both the 100m and 200m butterfly and was third in the 100m freestyle. In the same age group, Jasper LeySneyd won the 100m breaststro­ke and 200m Individual Medley and bronze in the 50m breaststro­ke.

In the 16 years and over age group, George Larke won silver medals in the 100m backstroke and 100m breaststro­ke and finished third in the 100m Individual Medley.

Also in this age group, Willem Muddimer won the 100m breaststro­ke and placed second in the 50m breaststro­ke and 100m butterfly.

Darrel Yeoh (12) won the 200m breaststro­ke and finished in silver medal position in both the 50m and 100m event for the same stroke. Seth Gardner (10) won gold in the 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke. Catherine Yates (11) finished second in the 50m butterfly and third in the 50m freestyle &100m Individual Medley.

Silver medals were won by Niamh Muddimer (14 years age group) in the 100m Individual Medley and Oli Pacholec (15) – 200m breaststro­ke. Bronze medals were won by Amelie McCann in the 16 years and over 100m backstroke,

Joshua Dowdall (14) in the 100m Individual Medley, Lois Buxton (12) in the 100m freestyle, Isabella Cooper (12) in the 50m breaststro­ke and Eva Hopper (12) also in the 100m backstroke.

Other swimmers that took part over the weekend from LTSC were Alexa Hargrave, Ellie Poulton-Burbank, Ellis Bancroft, Erin Harvey, Eva Koursis, Francesca Bacco, Henry Scully-Proud, Jacob Blount, Leo Moechel, Maia Ruiz-Salfity, Matilda Don, Matthew Longman, Millie Goldfinch, Ollie Brewer, Olly Lockton, Oscar Brown, and Ruby Rhodes.

All these swimmers achieved personal best times and many gained County Qualificat­ion times for 2022.
