Over-40s can now book their booster jab

-

COVID booster doses are now available to book for people in their 40s.

People will be eligible for the top-up dose six months after the second dose.

Second jabs will now also be available to all aged 16 and 17 – 12 weeks after the first dose.

Referring to a new Covid wave sweeping parts of Europe, the

Prime Minister said: “We don’t yet know the extent to which this new wave will wash up on our shores but history shows we cannot afford to be complacent.”

Boris Johnson urged people to take up offers to get the vaccination, particularly as the country heads into the winter.

“It would be an utter tragedy, after all we’ve been through, if people who had done the right thing by getting double vaccinated ended up becoming seriously ill or even losing their lives because they allowed their immunity to wane by not getting the booster,” he said.

About 12.6 million people across the UK have taken up the booster jab so far, according to the Prime Minister.
