QUIET SPACES AT ST JAMES’, NORMANTON ON SOAR. The next Julian Group meetings will be on November 30 at 6.30pm. All are welcome to these contemplative groups.

These regular monthly Julian meetings encourage one another in the practice of contemplative prayer. Julian of Norwich’s writings encourage us to be still, silent and receptive in God’s presence, trusting Him to make Himself known to us. After a brief introduction, our times together are based on the simple idea of spending at least half an hour together in silence, waiting on God and are open to anyone who would like to come. QUIET AFTERNOON. A reminder that our former vicar, The Revd Glenn Martin, is to hold a Quiet Afternoon at St James Church on Thursday December 2 from 1.30pm to 4pm. All are welcome to spend a little bit of spiritual space and quietness together with other friends. Our afternoon together will reflect on the church’s season of Advent.

Advent is traditionally a time of getting ready and being prepared. In Christian terms this, of course, means getting ready for Christmas and the annual celebration of the birth of Christ.

Our afternoon will concentrate on our preparedness for the events of our lives, not just Christmas, but in our prayer and spiritual lives. Please contact brian. archbold2@btinternet.com or 842341 if you would like to come along.

NOSMA CHRISTMAS PARTY. The Normanton on Soar Men’s Association Christmas Party, open to all villagers and friends along with their wives and partners, will be held at Longcliffe Golf Course, Loughborough, on Friday December 10.
