Christmas Days are on the way...

New opening hours are a festive first for attraction

FAMILIES are in for a feast of festive fun at one of the Midland’s biggest tourist attraction this Christmas.

A traditional market featuring dozens of food and craft stalls and the return of Santa’s Sleepover are all part of Alton Towers’ magical mix this year.

And, for the first time ever, guests will be able to visit during the day.

Chris Carter, the resort’s events and entertainments director, said: “Last year, Christmas was cancelled for so many people, which is why this year we are dropping the C word early as we want to make Christmas bigger and better than ever!”

This year, visitors can take a trip through all four seasons for the new light and lantern festival, which will illuminate Towers Street.

The resort has teamed up with Lightopia for the festival, which will boast spectacular displays, a magnificent water show and colourful transformations.

Visitors can also stroll around the market where more than 60 stalls will be selling unique crafts and festive food, including mulled wine. And anyone signing up for Santa’s Sleepover will get an overnight stay in one of the themed hotels, a visit to Santa’s Grotto to meet Father Christmas and day entry to the theme park. Mr Carter added: “For the first year ever, we are opening the resort to welcome day guests for our exciting Lightopia and Towers Christmas Market, with selected rides and attractions.

“We will also see the return of our hugely popular overnight festive escape, Santa’s Sleepover. Christmas is all about bringing people together, which will be more poignant than ever and something we want to really tap into. We’ve got an incredible line-up of seasonal entertainment and festive delights, which we’re sure our guests will love.”

The events run from November 27 to December 23.
