The 210-pupil school is being constructed on land off Welsted Road near Park Lane in the village in response to an expected demand for new school places stemming from the development of 895 new houses being built in the nearby area.

The development is on an area of land positioned to the west of Castle Donington and north of East Midlands Airport.

On completion the development site will also include employment land and a new single-carriageway Western Relief Road on land
