Leicesters­hire-based Scholars’ Academy Trust will be running the new school which is being built by Seddon Constructi­on Ltd.

The school building is expected to be completed by July,2022 and it will open for children in September, 2022.

The one-form entry school will cater for children aged four to 11 years and will open with a class of foundation­aged children, the youngest pupils in the school. Older age groups of children will be added in later years.

Scholars’ Educationa­l Trust was formed in 2013 and it includes the 640-pupil Launde Primary School in Oadby and Glenfield Primary School which has 450 pupils on roll. Launde has been graded “outstandin­g” by OFSTED since 2011 and Glenfield was rated as “good” in 2017.

Currently there are two primary schools in Castle Donington – St. Edwards Church of England Primary with 199 pupils on roll and Orchard Community Primary with a roll of 265 pupils.

MARKET. Castle Donington Local Market , an “exciting new adventure” being organised by Castle Donington Parish Council and the Volunteer Centre will interest local businesses, charities and groups.

A second local market is also planned for December 18. The local markets will be held at the Community Hub on 101 Bondgate.

FLOWER CLUB. “Season ‘s Greetings” is the name of a festive talk and demonstrat­ion to be given at an open meeting of Castle Donington and District Flower Club on Wednesday next week, December 8.

The demonstrat­ion will be given by Vanessa Wellock and everybody is welcome at the meeting at Castle Donington Hub.

Doors open at 7pm, the demonstrat­ion starts at 7.30pm and there will be a raffle, tombola and Christmas plants and flowers on sale. Tickets are £10.

ST PETER’S PARISH CHURCH. All are warmly invited on Sunday morning o the Parish Church of St Peter for a traditiona­l service of “Sung Mattins” (according to the Book of Common Prayer) at 9:30 am.
