Terror as masked trio force way into home

A MOTHER and her child were subjected to a terrifying ordeal when three masked thugs forced their way into their home and ordered her to hand over her cash and jewellery.

The men targeted the family home in Loughborou­gh Road, Birstall at about 9pm on Wednesday last week.

Detectives have launched an urgent appeal for help tracing the men.

The masked men, described as possibly Eastern European, broke into the property, which is near to the junction with Hermitage Road.

They threatened the woman and the child but did not physically assault them, the force said.

They left the home with a quantity of cash and gold jewellery.

Officers are now asking for people to get in touch with any possible informatio­n about the incident.

They are particular­ly keen to hear from anyone who saw three men acting suspicious­ly in the area at the time or has any informatio­n about their identity.

Detective Constable Beth McGuinness urged anyone who has informatio­n about the case to get in touch.

She said: “This was understand­ably a distressin­g incident for the occupants who thankfully were not physically assaulted.

“I am keen to speak to anyone who may have seen three men acting suspicious­ly in the area at this time or has any informatio­n about their identity.

“Please if you have informatio­n which could assist our investigat­ion and help find those responsibl­e, we would ask you contact the police.”
