Lottery time in borough

-

GIVE the gift of community spirit this Christmas thanks to a festive offer by Charnwood Community Lottery.

People can purchase lottery tickets as Christmas presents for friends and family who can enjoy the exciting chance to win a prize with the knowledge that money is also being raised for local good causes.

The lottery was launched by Charnwood Borough Council in 2018 and over £72,000 has been raised to help support 57 good causes. These include village halls, sports clubs, community libraries, and several charities.

For every £1 ticket, 60p goes towards helping good causes and players can win up to £25,000.

People can buy vouchers for the lottery which can be gifted to their loved ones for Christmas.

Cllr Leigh Harper-Davies, lead member for communities said: “It’s fantastic that since launching three years ago, the lottery has raised a significant amount of funding for good causes in the borough.

“Tickets from the lottery help to raise extra funding for many community groups and charitable organisations in Charnwood which deliver a range of services to help the local community. The pandemic has been a particularly difficult time for the voluntary and charity sector and people have continued to take a chance and make a difference to those good causes by playing the lottery.

“Christmas is a time for giving and if you want a different kind of gift this year, a voucher for the lottery could be a great option.

“Not only will you be giving someone s the chance to win but you will also be supporting a local cause. For every £5 gift voucher purchased, £3 will be donated to good causes.”

Gift vouchers for the lottery start at £5 and can be personalised by adding a message to the recipient. People can choose which good cause to support or let the recipient decide.
