UCL PREMIER DIVISION NORTH SKEGNESS TOWN 1

QUORN 3

SINCE the appointment of new boss Richard Lavery, Quorn have put together a run of one win, two draws and one close defeat, with fans pleased with the combative new look team.

Saturday’s opponents were on a run of four successive wins so the 180 mile round trip was going to be a tough test.

The weather caused issues in the opening exchanges. The wind, rain and condition of the pitch started to get the better of the players as there was bobbles and misplaced passes and shots throughout much of the first half. A solid half from both sides defensively limited chances and the score was 0-0 at the break.

Immediately after the interval Quorn took the lead - a ball played into Chib Chilaka was promptly dealt with as he chested the ball down, turned and played a ball into the path of running midfielder Charlie Marzano who calmly finished into the bottom right corner of the net.

As the game’s tempo increased, substitute Brandon Fox was introduced on 58 minutes and moments later a goalmouth scramble saw the ball fall to him and he blasted the ball past the keeper to make in 2-0.

Quorn kept troubling the Skegness defence and some great link-up play in the 76th minute saw Quorn put the result beyond doubt when pacy winger Moussa Cisse scored Quorn’s third of the match.

The hosts scored in the 90th minute but it was merely a consolation as Quorn claimed three vital points to move up to 15th in the league table.

The side has a great chance to win a third league game in a row on Saturday (December 11) when they host botton of the table Holbeach United who have yet to register a win in the league this season.
