Horrified experiments on animals may restart

-

I was recently horrified to learn that animal experiments for cosmetic ingredients could resume.

The UK was the first country to ban this barbaric practice in 1998 but Priti Patel plans to reverse this protection for laboratory animals.

Rather than taking back control, the UK will follow the EU in allowing most, if not all, cosmetic ingredients to be tested on animals.

Innocent animals should not have to endure being blinded, choked burned or suffer many other abuses for human vanity.

Even companies and associations across the industry are supporting a campaign against this barbarity started by the charity Cruelty Free International.

What’s more, there is considerable evidence testing on animals impedes scientific progress by giving misleading results.

For instance, substances and drugs that may be harmful to animals may be beneficial to humans and vice versa.

More than 90 per cent of scientific discoveries that are based on experiments carried out on animals fail in humans.
