Presentation night for golfers

ROTHLEY PARK Golf Club has held a special presentation evening to celebrate the winners of a wide range of trophies and prizes presented to juniors, gents, ladies, seniors and teams.

A club spokesman said: “Each trophy is a reminder of a special round of golf well played with many names to be added to the prestigious ‘winners’ boards’ around the clubhouse.

“Some trophies go back a hundred years and many have been presented by retiring golfers from across the decades ensuring their names live on in the history of the club.

The 2021 Club Champions, Vicky Mayfield and Tom Roberts were among over 60 ladies and gents presented with their prizes by club captains Jenny Piecha and Alan Dorn.

Alan said: “We had a record attendance this year and a record number of ‘first time’ winners. A special mention for the current County Seniors’ Captain, John Hardwick, who picked up four individual trophies.”

Jenny added: “It was a wonderful season this year where we were able to play all of our competitions.

“The Trophies were won by a true cross section of the ladies section, from our most respected seniors to one of our youngest lady members, Cara Jarvis Evans, winning our Order of Merit.

“Congratulations in particular go to Vicky Mayfield for winning our Club Championship for the second year running and to Jo Mayfield, current County Captain, who won the prestigious Baxter Trophy alongside Tom Roberts.”

The evening ended with a celebration dinner for the winners and club members.
