PITCHING IN NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE MIDLANDS LOUGHBOROUGH DYNAMO 3 SPALDING UNITED 2

LOUGHBOROUGH Dynamo won back to back games for the first time under Head Coach Brad Munn as they beat Spalding United 3-2.

It was a fiery encounter at times with both teams desperately trying to win the game and the Loughborough players were keen to impress their new assistant manager Lewis McGugan.

The two teams were level on points going into the fixture but it was Loughborough

Dynamo who started the better of the two teams.

The Moes dominated the first half and were in full control of the game at half time.

The first 20 minutes or so of the half were quite frustrating as Dynamo had a lot of the ball in and around the box but often their final ball was lacking.

However, when Kevin Bastos was brought down in the box in the 22nd minute, Curtis Burrows was on hand to convert the penalty and give Dynamo a deserved lead.

Dynamo kept on pushing and really restricted Spalding to a couple of long range efforts and all Dynamo goalkeeper Ruben Rabstein had to do in the first half was parry one long range effort away from goal.

Just before half time, left back Danny Gordon doubled Loughborough’s lead with a ferocious strike from inside the box that found the top corner of the net to make it 2-0.

One of the biggest criticisms of Dynamo this year is that they struggle to hold a lead and play well for a whole 90 minutes.

And again that was the issue in this game. Straight from the kick off, Loughborough Dynamo were on the back foot in the second half as

Spalding tried to break them down.

It took just five minutes for Jordan Macleod to run onto a defence splitting pass and beat the goalkeeper with a low shot to make it 2-1.

After that the game turned quite feisty and the referee had his work cut out to try and get things back under control after a few nasty tackles and a mass brawl.

In the 67th minute Jordan Macleod scored his second goal of the half when he was left unmarked in the box and tapped home from a low cross.

The Dynamo crowd was worried at this point as it was clear a winner was coming and Spalding looked the most likely to get it.

However, with just 10 minutes to go, super sub Alex Steadman was on hand to win the game for Dynamo as he was given the ball in the box and he beat his defender and fired the ball past the keeper.

That was Dynamo’s final home game of the calendar year and it followed the pattern of their previous home games with 59 goals coming in just 11 home fixtures this year.

Dynamo will be bank in action at home on January 3 when they play local rivals Shepshed Dynamo.
