Charnwood Ladies edged out in National League derby
CHARNWOOD Ladies made the short trip to Loughborough University to play the students in their latest National League fixture.
The talented pairings were Holly Cheeseman and Emily Rodbourne as well as Bea Cooper and Caroline Wilkinson.
The students are an extremely talented outfit and great credit must be given to Charnwood Ladies in tying the fixture at four sets apiece. However, the University won the tie as they secured seven more games than Charnwood.
After the match Club Captain Cheeseman said: “We played really well and look forward to four more challenging National League fixtures in the New Year.”
Meanwhile Charnwood Ladies played their final Division 1 match of the winter league season.
The home fixture against Wigston saw Charnwood play some tremendous tennis but the visitors triumphed 5-3.
Club spokesman Andrew Smith said: “We played some unbelievable tennis over the weekend with two different sides, this illustrated our strength in depth as a club and bodes extremely well for the future.”
