Scout group’s community event welcomes back three members from 1950s

No longer boys but still up for a jamboree, Graham Ward, Roger Robinson and Ron Forster were part of the Nanpantan troop in the 1950s.

THREE veteran former Scouts were among the guests as 1st Nanpantan Scout Group held a community event to raise funds for a £280,000 hut.

No longer boys but still up for a jamboree, Graham Ward, Roger Robinson and Ron Forster, who were part of the Nanpantan troop in the 1950s, dropped by to chat about their time with the Scouts.

Leaders, Scouts, Cubs and Beavers attended the event. Cash was raised through the offer of a hand car wash by the Scouts, as well as the sale of handmade Christmas crafts, animal portraits, glassware, cakes and refreshmen­ts. A raffle was also held. Volunteer fund-raiser Kerry Burgess said she was delighted with the turnout and was pleased to see Scouts from the past come back to visit.
