...and student STEM volunteers are boosted by £1,000 donation

A LOUGHBOROU­GH University volunteeri­ng group has received a £1,000 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Kegworth.

LSU Action is the volunteeri­ng section of the Students’ Union, offering students the chance to join volunteeri­ng projects, such as helping children to improve their maths skills and running STEM workshops on campus.

The group received the donation as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communitie­s in and around its operating locations across the UK.

Celia Syme, general manager at Amazon in Kegworth, said: “We’re passionate about children’s education, so we’re pleased to support Loughborou­gh Students’ Union Action with this donation - they do great work with children in our community.”

Jodie Evans, chairwoman of LSU Action, wsaid: “I want to say a huge thank you to Amazon Kegworth. Donations like this ensure we can continue to support the educationa­l needs of children in our community.”
