TREE WORKS. Sutton Bonington is included in a proposed programme of tree works that is currently being implemented by Rushcliffe Borough Council Grounds Maintenance contractors Streetwise following a survey by an external arboriculturist last year.

The Council maintain around 3,200 individual trees with a further 200 groups or woodlands. Say the council: “The survey recorded basic information about all the trees including adjacent land use, size, health and structure on a database and mapping system.”

They add that as a result of the survey around 1,600 recommendations for work were made, these vary from felling and large scale reductions to minor works.

All the works have been given a priority ranging from urgent/essential down to high, medium and low. Over the coming years the Borojgh intend to implement these recommendations and will arrange repeat surveys.

The programme of work for this winter aims to implement all the essential and urgent work to 275 trees across the Borough including felling 21 trees.

Whilst the majority of the work is in West Bridgford, work is also proposed in Sutton Bonington, East Leake, Keyworth, Cotgrave, Radcliffe on Trent, Bingham, Cropwell Bishop and Cropwell Butler.

The property services team have also appointed Streetwise to plant 43 new trees this winter in various sites across the Borough.
