Enjoy great talks on the wild side

A branch of Leicesters­hire and Rutland Wildlife Trust has announced a programme of talks for 2022.

The Charnwood group meets in Woodhouse Eaves Village Hall on the second Wednesday of every month from January to May, starting at 7.30pm.

On Wednesday, January 12, there will be Tales from the Bush: a series of mini-talks by trust members.

On February 9, Brian Hammond will be talking about Cone Shells – Killers or Curers. This talk is about a particular family of molluscs which are venomous and carnivorou­s. Their venom is complex and is used a lot in drug research.

March 9 will be the AGM, followed by Enthralled by Galls: Exploring the Plant Galls of Leicesters­hire, by Hazel Graves. April 13 is The Condor’s Feather, by Mike and Paula Webster, a travel memoir about the years the couple spent in South America.

Wednesday, May 11 will have A Wildlife Quiz for Everyone.

Admission is £2.50 for trust members, £3 for visitors, kids free. Visitors, children free.
