Help in store after theft at hospice shop

-

A Homewares giant has stepped in to support Rainbows, which is based in Loughborough, after thieves targeted its Blaby shop in a pre-Christmas raid.

The shop in Forge Corner was hit on Sunday, December 5. Thieves escaped with hundreds of pounds and caused damage costing over £1,000. It also meant the hospice shop was forced to close the next day too, losing a day of trading.

Following the break-in, Dunelm donated £1,000 to the charity to cover the cost of the repairs. Rainbows has also been overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of the Leicestershire community with many other local people making donations.

Karen Bilsby, Rainbows head of retail, said: “We were all heart-broken after what occurred in our shop. But the kind actions of Dunelm and the community are just incredible, and we feel very grateful and lucky to have such fantastic support.”

Janice Dunn, head of community at Dunelm, said: “Delivering joy at Christmas is at the heart of our seasonal activities and we were delighted to be able to help such a deserving local charity.”
