County championship joy for Charnwood AC
AFTER a two year break, the Leicestershire & Rutland County Cross-Country championships again took place on Saturday at Burbage Common, Hinckley with Charnwood AC well represented and coming home with five individual and team titles, a silver and two bronze medals.
The U17 Women got things going with a seconnd place for Amelie McCann and an overall team gold for Amelie, Sophie Dunbobbin (4th) and Gracie-Rose Walters (7th) supported by Isobel Edwards (10th).
The U13 Boys then took it to another level with Josh Adkins claiming the individual gold medal and leading the team of Josh (1st), Jacob Duncombe (6th) and Olly Lockton (10th) to take the title by a point, ably supported again by Oliver Stenhouse (12th) and Max Muddle (17th).
In the U13 Girls there were fantastic performances from Matilda Don (6th) and
Florence Wheeler (9th) though unfortunately they did not have a full team on the day.
In the U15 Boys Sam Tansey (11th) and Miles Foord (15th) ran well, and in the U17 Men Luke Talbot and Joshua Duncombe (9th) were competing with Luke having to withdraw in the last part of the race due to injury.
The Senior and Masters Women brought back individual medals with Hannah Seager in third for the Senior Women and Claire McKittrick third in the Masters. The Senior Women also took the team title with Hannah (3rd), Ella Taylor (5th) and Elaine Seager (17th).
The Junior Men’s team of Alex ColestonShields (4th), Colin Foord (5th) and Will Leggatt (6th) finished with a Gold medal and the Masters Men also ran well with Mark Couldwell (4th), Martin Lewis (11th) and Paul Harmer (17th) completing a strong performance by the club.
