No surprises in the Knockout Cup

THURSDAY was the opening week of games of 2022 in the Loughborou­gh and District Pubs and Clubs Darts League.

The new year started with the second round of the Knockout Cup and the first round of the Knockout Plate.

There were no surprises in the second round of the Barrow Conservati­ve Club Knockout Cup as a majority of the first division sides went through with relative ease.

In the all Division 1 encounter Mick the Flicks Three Crowns Barrow beat Windmill Exiles 5-1 as all of the other first division teams went through against teams from leagues below them.

Bottom Railway BA remain unbeaten beating Royal Oak Old uns 8-1. The Royal Oak Shooters progressed with a 7-2 win over the Crown Shepshed and the Ring ‘O’Bells LH beat Division 4 Barrow Cons Club Discombula­ted 9-0 away.

The Bull and Bush Lions beat the Windmill Blue Army 5-2 away and Barrow Cons Club Waggs Gang also won away from home beating the Bull and Bush Counts 8-1, Mark Wagg with a 104 finish.

In the only game not featuring a division 1 side Three Crowns Hathern beat Spot on Foxes 5-4. Adam Squires with a 126 finish for the Foxes.

The games between Hathern Club and Three Nuns Left Footers and Black Swan JS and Bush Rejects were both called off.

In the first round of the Darts Shack Knockout Plate there was two upsets.

Division 4 side The Boat Inn beat the Bull and Bush Laughing Boys 6-3 at home and the Barrow Cons Club Convicts also of Division 4 beat the Plough Thorpe Acre of Division 2 by the same score away.

Riddled with Dartitis Top Railway progressed with a 6-3 home win over Three Nuns Albions and Generous Briton Beerlegs beat White Hart Stags 8-1.

In the all Division 4 tie Top Railway Laffables won 5-3 away to Three Nuns Bad Habits.

The games between Plough Ernie’s and Spot on Guys and Gals, Three Nuns Bluemoon Foxes and Spot on LSU Sexy and we throw it, Spot on LSU 26ers and Peacock A-Team were all called off.

The draws for both competitio­ns will be made at The Spot on February 27.

Prior to the festive break two rearranged fixtures in Division 4 were played. The Top Railway Laffables went fourteen points clear with a 7-2 win at the White Hart Stags and Barrow Cons Club Convicts won the Cons Club derby over the Discombula­ted 7-2 to go second in the table. Andy Clarke with a 126 finish for Barrow Cons Club Discombula­ted.

This week sees the first full league fixtures of the year.
