PITCHING IN NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE MIDLANDS DAVENTRY TOWN 2 LOUGHBOROUGH DYNAMO 2

LOUGHBOROUGH Dynamo let a two goal lead slip away at Daventry Town and ended up drawing 2-2 writes James Kendrick.

Things didn’t get off to a very good start for the Moes in their first away game of 2022 as loanee Kyle Jardine made his full debut for the club but had to come off injured after 18 minutes.

The first half an hour was a pretty quite affair with there being a lot of long balls forward and both teams struggled to create chances.

However, an explosive three minute spell for Loughborough Dynamo just after the half hour mark saw them take a two goal lead.

On 32 minutes, Dynamo broke down the right through Kevin Bastos. Bastos played an early ball into the middle for Alex Steadman which the Daventry keeper came for but couldn’t hold and Steadman was on hand to prod the ball home.

Then just three minutes later Dynamo goalkeeper Jay Alexander got a rare assist as Kevin Bastos raced onto his long ball over the top and his first time finish from just inside the box beat the keeper and found the roof of the net to make it 2-0.

The rest of the first half was quite quiet with The Moes in control and it looked like they would take their two goal lead into the half time interval.

However, in first half stoppage time, George Ball had a weak shot from just outside the box that took a deflection and beat Jason Alexander in the Loughborough goal.

This made the second half a lot more difficult than it otherwise might have been for Loughborough and they were under a lot of pressure and struggled to get out of their half.

Daventry were pushing hard for an equaliser and they finally got one in the 78th minute when George Ball got his second of the game through a low shot inside the box.

Things heated up in the last 10 minutes and the game had to be halted for nearly five minutes after a fifty-fifty challenge in the Daventry box led to a fight involving nearly all 22 players.

This saw a red card be given to Daventry defender Jarvis Wilson before play finally resumed.

Dynamo will be disappointed to have not won the game but they are still unbeaten in 2022 as they go into two home games in a row over the next 10 days.
