A charity supporting families with children who have special educational needs has received a donation from a housebuilder.

Persimmon Homes North Midlands awarded Steps Conductive Education Centre, in Shepshed, a £1,000 grant.

Steps works with young children with cerebral palsy, chromosome disorders including Down’s syndrome and other conditions which affect the acquisition of motor skills.

Trish Mabbott, fund-raiser and operations manager at the charity, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to Persimmon Homes for choosing us to receive this generous donation.

“Many of our children have lifelimiting conditions and we aim to make every day memorable which is why we’re looking to fund some events and days out where the whole family can spend time together making memories.

“Our goal is to develop the skills the children need to progress and maximise their potential.”
