Could you help shape council’s housing services for its tenants?
Please come forward and help us shape our housing service for the better for years to come.
Councillor James Poland
TWO places on a advisory board, which helps shape housing services, are up for grabs for council tenants and leaseholders.
Board members can have a say on how services are run by Charnwood Borough Council, to help improve them.
The Housing Management Advisory Board (HMAB) discusses important issues that affect its council tenants and leaseholders, including performance of the council’s landlord service, budgets, policies and investment in properties.
The board is made up of 10 members: six council tenants/leaseholders, three borough councillors and an independent member.
It is an important part of ensuring that the council’s service is tailored to the needs of tenants and leaseholders.
Members serve a three-year term of office and the board meets six times a year.
Owing to the three-year term of office expiring for two existing members, two member positions are available for interested council tenants and/or leaseholders. The council is looking for applicants who are keen to get involved and make a difference to the way services are delivered.
Councillor James Poland, lead member for public housing at the council, said: “The role of the board is extremely important and their valued input helps the council shape the service to the needs of our tenants and leaseholders.
“The board has a great deal of influence on the way we deliver our services, and by filling these two roles with engaged tenants and leaseholders who want to make a difference, we will know which areas of the service are doing well and which can be improved.
“Please come forward and help us shape our housing service for the better for years to come.”
Where reports relate to items which will be submitted to the borough council’s Cabinet, the comments and recommendations of the board are included and taken into account when decisions about the service are made. Anyone interested in becoming a member can apply online via the council’s website at www.charnwood.gov.uk/hmab_ recruitment.
The deadline for applications is Sunday, February 13, 2022. Interviews and the appointment process will begin from February 23, 2022, with a decision and appointment made before the board meets on March 23, 2022.
