Dynamo share the points in home draw
PITCHING IN NORTHERN PREMIER DIVISION MIDLANDS LOUGHBOROUGH DYNAMO 2 CARLTON TOWN 2
LOUGHBOROUGH Dynamo took a point off play-off chasing Carlton Town in a 2-2 draw, writes James Kendrick.
Dynamo head coach Brad Munn made the decision to change tactic for the game with Carlton, which saw the Moes line up with three centre-backs and two wing backs.
Loughborough’s preparation was also hit by a late injury to Michael Jacklin in the warm-up and he had to be replaced by Carl Sibson.
It was a slow start to the game for Dynamo and it took just four minutes for them to go behind.
Nat Watson found himself free in the centre of the box and his shot beat Alexander in goal and made it 1-0 to Carlton.
However, Dynamo did wake up after that and dominated the rest of the first half. Winger Kevin Bastos was playing up front against Carlton and was particularly lively and causing problems.
And in the 22nd minute Bastos was pulled down in the area and the referee gave a penalty. Curtis
Burrows stepped up and scored his 12th goal of the season to make it 1-1.
Just 10 minutes later, a great pass forward by Tristan Matthews put Kyle Jardine in on goal and his first time lob went over the keeper to make it 2-1.
Curtis Burrows then could have had one of the goals of the season. The Carlton keeper didn’t get enough on his clearance just outside the box and Burrows volleyed it from 40 yards and it bounced just in front of the goal, clipped the crossbar and went over.
As has often been the case recently, Dynamo made it difficult for themselves in the second half and they spent most of that time sitting deep and defending their box.
On 70 minutes, Tom Maddison fired home from a corner to make it 2-2.
Burrows did have a chance to win it for Loughborough Dynamo in injury time but his volley from inside the box flashed wide.
Loughborough will be happy to have come away with a point against a play-off chasing team but they know they had chances to win it.
