PITCHING IN NORTHERN PREMIER DIVISION MIDLANDS SHEPSHED DYNAMO 1 CAMBRIDGE CITY 2

SHEPSHED Dynamo lost 2-1 to Cambridge City in the Pitching in Northern Premier Division Midlands League at The Dovecote Stadium.

It was like deja vu in the reverse fixture Cambridge equalised in injury time and today they gained all three points in the final minute.

Shepshed opened the scoring on four minutes through Jack Rogers and led at the break.

Ryan Ingrey equalised for Cambridge City on fifty-five minutes and Mikey Davis sealed the points for the visitors in the final minute of the game.

Shepshed started well with Dempsey Arlott-John threatening down the left and firing wide in the first minute. Dynamo took the lead on four minutes Rogers put through on goal to slot past Dan George.

Rogers went close again on seven minutes but into George.

Dynamo looked comfortable with Arlott-John firing wide on 11 minutes and a cross field ball from Jack Macmillan finding John King into George on 16 minutes.

From there onwards the Lillywhites were the prominent side in the first half.

Matty Miles’ long throw in went straight across the box on 17 minutes and Jordan Smith cleared from Ben Bradley’s free kick three minutes later.

Davis fired wide on 23 minutes and a minute later Ryan Swift’s cross was met by the head of Bradley with Ganley making the save. Smith cleared from Jordan Gent on the half-hour mark and three minutes later Davis had the best chance of the half for the visitors hitting the post.

Bradley then had a further chance into Ganley and Davis had two further chances as Shepshed held on to the lead at half time.

Jarid Robinson produced the first chance of the second half but straight at Ganley, followed by a response from Jiah Medrano into George.

Cambridge equalised on 55 minutes, Ganley punched clear but after advancing from the clearance Dynamo were exposed and from the edge of the area Ingrey equalised.

Ganley produced two good saves on the hour mark.

Shepshed responded well with Arlott-John wide on 61 minutes and four minutes later his shot into George.

In what was now an open game substitute Reece Morris fired wide on 75 minutes and a minute later Matt Melbourne’s flick on found Andy Kanga with George making the save.

Cambridge gained all three points in the final minute with Davis curling past Ganley.

Shepshed had one final chance in injury time with George tipping over Morris’s effort.

Cambridge had the better of the chances and probably on merit deserved the three points but it was agonising for Shepshed with chances at the end not to gain anything out of an end to end game.

Next up is a tough looking away day against play-off contenders Stamford.
