Luffs return home empty handed

LEICESTERSHIRE SENIOR LEAGUE DIVISION ONE KIBWORTH TOWN 2 LOUGHBOROUGH FC 1

DEEP in the Kibworth countryside this was not a Leicestershire Senior League classic and indeed an afternoon to forget.

If The Luffs are going to survive in Division One, they will have to dig deeper than this, failing to register any points against a Kibworth side that look equally as bad. The early exchanges brought nothing of any consequence Kibworth’s Michael Clair Jn Nsiah sliced a shot well wide and a Loughborough free kick was scrambled away and while Kibworth enjoyed the early territorial advantage Nick Ebede had a shot blocked at the other end.

The Luffs best effort in a grim first half hour cam as Owen Brailsford beat his man to deliver a low cross but there was a mark absence of any one to finish it off.

Kieran Bedford show wide for Kibworth but keeper Ben Dibden was never really threatened and it looked as if The Luffs would reach half time without conceding but as per the week before there was a sting in the tail. A free kick, a goalmouth scramble and Tom Hooley stuck out a foot and the ball trickled over the line and the hosts went in 1-0 up.

The second half was equally disappointing as the teams cancelled each other out for a long period with noting of note to report. Eventually Kibworth won a penalty and Kibworth’s Ollie Magee made it 2-0.

All over bar the shouting may be but The Luffs rallied in the last 15 minutes and got a compensation goal from a penalty which Agbor Sobert dispatched comfortable but it was all a bit too late in the game to affect the result.

To be fair The Luffs were missing some influential players for this game but it illustrated the lack of depth in the playing staff in these difficult times.
