Hathern slip to Cottesmore defeat

-

IN THE Everards Premier league, Cottesmore Amateurs moved into the top four with a 2-0 win at home to Hathern after Mark Tinsley scored in the first half, and Colton Cropper converted a penalty in the second. Thurnby Rangers remain third after Matt Ingram (2) and Lewis Murphy guided them to a 3-2 win at home to ProChance, for whom Oliver Jagroop and Sunni Nichols scored.

Blaby & Whetstone, meanwhile, continued their unlikely top four challenge with a 5-1 win at home to Sileby Town. Mackenzie Armstrong, Carlton Beardsmore, Jake Smith, plus Spencer Beck and Jacob Pick coming off the bench provided the B&W goals, with Connor Packwood scoring for Sileby. FC Khalsa visited Desford, and were level at the turnaround, before Harry Jarvis (2), Josh Bond and Acer Szilak gave the hosts a 4-0 win.

In Everards Brewery Division One, Kirby Muxloe Reserves played Barrow Town Reserves in a replay of a fixture that was voided on opening day after the visitors fielded an ineligible player. Kirby cashed in this weekend by winning 9-2, with a Kyle Avossa hat-trick, Dan Agar brace, a Bakary Mass brace, plus Reece Green and Jack Gunn the Kirby scorers, Marc Schulz for Barrow.

Burbage Old Boys had a weekend to forget last Saturday, and lost further ground when they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Earl Shilton Albion, a Conor Beasley penalty in the first half giving the visitors the lead, before Andrei Graur equalised in the second.

Sporting Markfield meanwhile kept in touch with a thrashing of their own, winning 6-0 at Birstall United Reserves, Guy Weston (2), Andrew Culver, Jordan Hamill, Connor Helps and Connor McGahan the scorers.

At the bottom, it was more misery for Loughborough, who lost 2-1 at Kibworth Town.

Tom Hooley gave the hosts the lead midway through the first half, and Ollie Magee added a second after the break, with Agbor Sobeh scoring for Loughborough. They now find themselves six points adrift of safety, after Barlestone St Giles secured another draw, this time 2-2 at Ingles Reserves, Hayden Boam and Ben GascoigneSmith for Barlestone, Dean Pell (2) for Ingles.

Into Everards Brewery Division Two, and second-placed Aylestone Park Reserves took a huge stride towards promotion on Saturday as an OG, Jon-Jo Clarkson, Harry Hawkins and Louie Pipe gave them a 4-0 win away to Sutton Bonington.

Rugby Borough Reserves continue to kindle faint hopes of promotion by the normal route, holding on for a 4-3 win away to Sileby Town Reserves.

Bashi Abduwali, Matt Walker, Charlie Whiteside and sub Lewis Hulley scored for Rugby, with Joe Butcher-Smith, Connor Dauven and an OG providing Sileby’s goals.

Rothley Imperial, meanwhile, were forced to effectively reverse their fixture against Desford Reserves, with the game moving to Bosworth Academy in Desford, but Rothley came through to win 2-0, Emidio Chiavetta and Zak Ginvert scoring for Rothley.

However, Desford were still able to extend their gap to the foot of the table, as Cottesmore Development were deducted three points this week for a failure to fulfil, leaving them on minus 3 points, and facing a struggle just to get back into the black as far as their points tally is concerned.
