Residents put on their game faces and gladrags for care home’s pop-up casino
RESIDENTS put their cards on the table when a pop-up casino was held at their care home.
The team at Care UK’s Lonsdale Mews, in Quorn, went all-in for the casino event, with team members dressed as croupiers and residents given Lonsdale Mews casino chips to try their luck.
On the day, the Farley Way home was adorned with black and red decor to recreate a true Vegas atmosphere, while residents put on their gladrags and hoped to beat the house in casino staples, including roulette and blackjack.
Vintage entertainer Johnny Victory helped to set the tone for the evening and gave residents an opportunity to tap their feet to some of their favourite songs.
To top it off, residents were treated to a special meal of mini classics, prepared by the team.
Kate, a resident, said: “I have never played roulette before, but it was great fun learning.”
Fellow resident Pat added: “I really enjoyed the entertainment, the singer was so good!”
Home manager at Lonsdale Mews, Toby Sturgess, said: “We are always looking to plan interesting and exciting activities here, and after the success of our previous themed beach and fairground events, we knew we had to plan something equally as exciting and amazing for the residents.
“Our pop-up casino was a great opportunity for residents to reminisce about fun times of days gone by.
“It proved to be a real success, and you could see from residents’ reactions just how much they enjoyed playing the different games and trying to beat the house.
“The Lonsdale Mews team went all-in for this event, so it was fantastic to see the smiles on everyone’s faces.”
