Exercise referral scheme back at leisure centres after long lay-off

- By STAFF REPORTER www.fusion-lifestyle.com

CHARNWOOD Borough Council’s leisure partner, Fusion Lifestyle, is resuming its exercise referral scheme in Charnwood.

Participants referred by a health care professional will be offered a 12-week exercise programme at either Loughborough, Soar Valley or South Charnwood leisure centre.

Activity sessions on offer include gym, circuit classes and multisport and will give participants a chance to improve their health while taking part in a variety of fun fitness options.

The cost of activities, under the expert guidance of exercise referral instructors, is £3.25 per session.

Tina Coles, active lifestyle development officer at Fusion Lifestyle, said:

“After a difficult couple of years we are delighted to offer our exercise referral scheme again. We continue to expand our timetable and believe we have something suitable for all, regardless of age or ability.

“Our highly-qualified instructors deliver specialist classes which aim to improve the health, fitness and wellbeing of the community, taking any health conditions into consideration.

“You will find our classes to be fun, welcoming and safe.”

Nick Evatt, sports and community development manager at Fusion Lifestyle, said: “These have been unprecedented times and we’re really excited to have the programme back on the timetable in Charnwood.

“We believe in giving our customers as much choice and variety as possible when it comes to getting fit and active and having this programme back is great for the residents.” Councillor Leigh Harper-Davies, the borough council’s lead member for community support and equalities, added: “We are committed to providing high-quality leisure facilities to help residents improve their health and wellbeing.

We’re really pleased residents will have access to the exercise referral scheme once again.”

If you are a resident of Charnwood and you feel you or someone you know could benefit from taking part in the programme, speak to your GP about being referred.

Alternatively, you can contact any of the three leisure centres who will be able to tell you more about the programme.

Facilities available across the three leisure centres include a pool and a gym at each site, fitness studios, a dedicated indoor cycle studio, sports hall, squash courts, AstroTurf pitch and an indoor soft play.

The three Charnwood leisure centres are managed by Fusion Lifestyle, a registered charity.

These have been unprecedented times and we’re really excited to have the programme back.
