Wildlife expert, stand-up stars and cowardly cunning on way!

-

A POPULAR wildlife expert and filmmaker is to appear at Loughborough Town Hall this week.

Gordon Buchanan - 30 years in the Wild - The Anniversary Tour is coming to the town venue on Thursday this week.

One of the most prominent wildlife presenters and filmmakers working today, Gordon’s journey is a remarkable story.

Having produced some of the most popular wildlife programmes on the BBC, we have been able to see his incredible passion for the animal kingdom and the unique ability he has for presenting such hidden animal worlds to an audience.

For the first time, Gordon, pictured, will be taking a look back at his incredible 30 years working both behind and in front of the camera.

This will be a rare opportunity to discover what has continued to drive his career and the landmark stories that take pride of his work.

With three decades’ worth of expeditions to guide us through, this will be the first time Gordon is able to show us his favourite wildlife encounters.

The tools and traits he has developed over the years to be at the forefront of wildlife filmmaking. This will be a showcase of both his most celebrated work, and that never seen before, a behind the scenes insight of how these successful programmes are made.

Gordon is taking this opportunity to understand how his time within the wildlife industry has changed and what the future potentially holds for us and the animal kingdom as coinhabitants of our rapidly changing ecological landscape.

The following night, Friday, February 4, the venue will be hosting Ahir Shah as part of the Leicester Comedy Festival.

Featuring his signature blend of philosophical inquiry, personal examination, and sweet gags, Double Edinburgh Comedy Award-nominee Ahir returns to stand-up with a new show about significance, insignificance and scurvy.

His last show, Dots, was recorded as a special for HBO Max (albeit after a 14-month delay brought about by events you may recall).

Ahir has appeared on Mock The Week, Live At the Apollo, Have I Got News For You, and The Mash Report.

The Masked Singer presenter Joel Dommett will be performing at the venue on Saturday, February 5.

Join Joel as he brings you bang up to date on his life since his last live show.

He has become a regular face on

TV, from being a finalist in 2016’s I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! (ITV), to then hosting ITV2’s I’m a Celebrity Extra Camp alongside Scarlett Moffatt and Joe Swash. He starred in two series of the critically acclaimed Comedy Central Show Joel and Nish VS the World, is the co-host of ITV2’s dating show Singletown.

Next week, The Festival Players will be performing Blackadder 2 at Loughborough Town Hall as part of Leicester Comedy Festival. The show is on from February 8 to 11.

The Festival Players are delighted to be back at Loughborough Town Hall with this timeless classic which features four of the funniest episodes from the second series: Bells, Head, Money & Beer.
