Championsh­ip success continues for swim club

IT WAS another successful weekend for Loughborou­gh Town Swimming Club at the Leicesters­hire and Rutland County Championsh­ips.

Ten-year-old Seth Gardner continued his winning ways by taking gold in the 200m breaststro­ke, 200m backstroke and 100m Individual Medley. The club’s 15-yearold boys also continued to accrue medals with James Lake also winning gold in the 200m backstroke and 200m butterfly. He was also second in the 200m breaststro­ke. Thomas Macmanard placed third in the 200m backstroke and was also seventh in the 200m breaststro­ke. Alfie Molloy was third in the 100m Individual Medley.

Darell Yeoh placed third in the 13 years 200m breaststro­ke and was also fifth in the 100m Individual Medley final. Finlay Gibson also secured more medals finishing in first place in the 100m Individual Medley and 200m backstroke. He was also second in the 200m breaststro­ke and third in the 100m butterfly. Jack Goldfinch placed third in the 16 years and over 200m backstroke and Willem Muddimer was second in the 200m breaststro­ke in the same age group. Willem also placed fourth in the 100m Individual Medley and seventh in the 100m butterfly. Sean McCann took silver in the 16 years and over age group 100m butterfly.

For the girls, Elizabeth Palfrey finished in second place in the 14 years 200m backstroke and third in the 400m Individual Medley. She also placed fifth in the 50m backstroke final. Abbie Ruddle was third in the 50m butterfly (16 years and over category) and was fourth in the 50m freestyle and was eighth in the 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke. Olivia Humphrey was third in the 100m freestyle and second in the 50m freestyle in the same age group.

Other swimmers finishing in the top eight were: Catherine Yates (12 years age group), fifth in the 50m freestyle, sixth in the 100m freestyle and seventh in the 50m butterfly. In the same age group, Millie Goldfinch placed fourth in the 50m backstroke. Daisy Snewin (14 years) was eighth in the 50m backstroke and Lucy Snaith was also eighth in the same age group in the 50m freestyle. Niamh Muddimer was sixth in the 15 years 50m freestyle and Francesca Palfrey (16 years and over) placed sixth in the 400m Individual Medley with Isha Rayarel sixth in the 200m backstroke.

Finn Reed and Harrison Bywater were fourth and fifth in the 15 years 200m breaststro­ke and Jasper LeySneyd (16 years and over) was fourth in the same event and seventh in the 100m Individual Medley. George Larke placed sixth in the 200m Breaststro­ke (16 years) and Henry Scully-Proud was sixth in the 100m Individual Medley.

Lois Buxton, Eva Hopper, Ruby Rhodes, Isabella Cooper, Mar RuizMonser­rat, Ella Fairey, Erin Harvey, Jess Smith, Eleanor Taylor, Oli Pacholec, Felix Jarvis, Leo Moechel and Ben Hobbs were the other swimmers representi­ng Loughborou­gh Town during the weekend.
