Sileby Town win at league leaders

-

IN THE Everards Brewery Premier Division leaders Allexton & New Parks might have expected to cash in at home to Sileby Town, but instead, came unstuck themselves.

Gary Warren gave the visitors a lead, slightly against the run of play. ANP pressure eventually told, as Ash Jones went in 1-on-1, shortly after half-time, before putting it through the keeper’s legs. The hosts might have been expecting that to be the turning point, but were instead stunned by Callum Chetwynd’s screamer of a free-kick that appeared to knock the stuffing out of Allexton, who then conceded again shortly after Grant Ryder scored, leaving them up against it. Jones pulled one back to set up a tense finish, but Sileby hung on to win 3-2.

Glenfield United saw Schilo Kanda score the only goal of the game 15 minutes from time to give ProChance a 1-0 win at South Charnwood, a threadbare Hathern side somehow managed to get patched up and came away with a 2-0 win at Magna 73, a first-half OG after some penalty box pinball and Liam Walton for Hathern in the last ten minutes securing the points.

In Division One, Burbage Old Boys are still in the mix, though their campaign is showing signs of faltering, as they again dropped points on Saturday, drawing 3-3 against Birstall United Reserves. James Graham, Andrei Graur and Nathan Turner for Burbage, Niall Stafford (2) and Harrison Stuart for Birstall.

Loughborough FC continue to occupy the relegation spot, losing 3-0 at Anstey Town, Aiden Lockett (2) and Josh Parker the scorers. The Luffs are six points behind Friar Lane Reserves and Barlestone St Giles, who lost 1-0 at home to Kibworth Town.

Rounding off the week in the division were two mid-table clashes, as Ingles Reserves triumphed 4-1 at Barrow Town Reserves, Josh Coomber, Luke Green, Dean Pell and Sam Hankin the Shepshed side’s scorers, Sam Crabtree for Barrow.

Meanwhile in Everards Brewery Division Two, Sutton Bonington dropped points again, this time drawing 2-2 at home to Sileby Town Reserves. Lawrence Al-Hariri and Ant Cox scored for SB, Joe Butcher-Smith and Joe Hetterley off the bench for Sileby.
