MUSIC fans can look forward to enjoying two big events at Leicester Racecourse in the summer.

The venue has revealed the acts that are set to appear at two major shows in June and July.

Sister Sledge will headline the Smooth Radio Party Night on Saturday, June 11, which will also include a performance from special guests, ABBA tribute act Björn Again.

Sister Sledge catapulted to fame with their number one album We Are Family, which went platinum in 1979 and successful collaborations with musicians like George Duke, Elton John, and Narada Michael Walden soon followed.

On Saturday, July 2, the Smooth Radio Ladies’ Day show will feature 1980s heart-throb Tony Hadley as the headline act, with soul star Mica Paris as the special guest.

As lead singer of Spandau Ballet, Hadley was one of pop music’s more recognisable voices in the 1980s, and the band’s popularity has spanned the decades. The band, which broke up in 1990 before reforming for a decade from 2009, had many chart-topping singles and albums all over the world, including hit singles such as the 1983 charttopping True and Gold, which 29 years later became the unofficial London Olympics theme.

In 2020, Hadley was one of the vocalists performing on the single The Best Christmas (in Lockdown), for the Hertfordshire-based Electric Umbrella organisation.

Last year, he appeared alongside Marcella Detroit, Jools Holland and Glen Matlock on a charity version of the Robbie Williams song Angels, recorded in tribute to the producer Steve Brown and with funds going to the late producer’s Covid-19 charity.

He will be joined at Ladies’ Day by Mica Paris.

She had a huge impact on the UK music scene in August 1988 when she released her debut album, the platinum-selling So Good.

The album included her first Top 10 hit My One Temptation, which peaked at number 7 in the UK charts.

According to Leicester Racecourse, Ladies’ Day is a fantastic day to spend with friends or family and is renowned for its glamour and entertainment.

As well as races and the bestdressed competition, the crowds can expect further entertainment, in addition to the live music.

■ Tickets for both events are available from the Leicester Racecourse website.

Standard tickets for both events cost £35 individually, while “bundle” tickets covering both events are £50.
