You can help hospice and bag £3k with £1 draw ticket

PEOPLE in Leicesters­hire can now play the Rainbows Hospice Superdraw and brighten short lives.

Each year, the charity holds Superdraw raffle with a top prize £3,000.

Tickets cost £1 and other cash prizes of £250, £100 and £50 are also up for grabs.

In the last five years alone, people of Leicesters­hire have helped to raise more than £170,000. This has enabled Rainbows to continue supporting children and young people affected by life-limiting illnesses, as well as expanding its reach to more and more families.

Jennifer Varnam, Lottery and Supporter Engagement Coordinato­r at Rainbows, said: “The figure of what we have raised in just the last five years, its of shows how important the Superdraw is to Rainbows.

“At Rainbows, we offer comfort and compassion during tough times, provide the highest level of profession­al care until the end, and support after. Simply put, we are there to brighten short lives, and support families.

“By purchasing a Superdraw ticket, you will be helping our families create invaluable memories. You will also be in with the chance of winning £3,000.”

Tickets can be purchased until Frida, April 29. The lucky winner will be drawn on Friday 6 May.

LOUGHBOROU­GH Fair has won a top tourism award in the year it celebrated its 800th anniversar­y.

The event, organised by Charnwood Borough Council which operates the markets and fair, won the Best Free Event at the Leicesters­hire Tourism Awards.

The team worked tirelessly to put on events throughout 2021 to mark 800 years since the markets and fair were given royal approval.

The year saw the return of Loughborou­gh Fair following a break due to the pandemic and thousands of people attended. Events also included exhibition­s at the Sock Gallery in Loughborou­gh Town Hall and

Charnwood Museum, a plaque unveiling, commemorat­ive lights and fun family events in the town centre. Councillor Shona Rattray, lead member for business support, said: “We are so pleased to win this award.

“A big thank you to our team who helped organise so many great events which were attended in great number by the people of Charnwood.”

Coun Jenny Bokor, lead for Loughborou­gh, said: “There were some great events that took place over the last year and we feel we did the town proud in marking such a special year. It is great to have it recognised by this award.”
