Ingles secure safety with latest victory
LUTTERWORTH ATHLETIC 1 INGLES 2
FIRST half goals from Ben Tansley and Kyle Fowkes earnt Ingles another hard fought victory that made them mathematically safe from the bottom three.
As the game started it was Lutterworth who dominated the ball and territory. On a very bobbly surface Lutterworth settled better and began testing the make shift Ingles back four. Lutterworth tried to turn them at every opportunity and the lively winger and forward were beginning to cause problems. To Ingles credit Lutterworth didn’t create anything clear cut but some testing crosses and long range efforts were dealt with by Abell and the centre halves, Warren and Scargill.
On 25 minutes Ingles took the lead. After a series of pressure and corners one finally told as the cross came in where after a few deflections found Fowkes 8 yards out and he made no mistake in firing past the keeper on his 100th appearance for the 1st team.
From this point it was Ingles who dominated the action and on 27 minutes Ingles got the second. Scargill won the ball on the left and fired a delightful diagonal cross field ball to Tansley who had slipped his man. Tansley brought the ball down and calmly fired past the keeper.
Three minutes later Lutterworth hit back. A soft free kick on the right was crossed in low and met by unmarked striker Dan Cole who smartly steered his volley low past Abell, bringing Lutterworth
back into the game.
The rest of the half was mainly Lutterworth dominating the territory looking to go in all square at half time however as before they struggled to created anything clear cut and the half drifted out with Ingles leading 2-1.
The second half started in a similar vain to the first with Lutterworth shading the ball but Ingles held firm to secure the win and three points.
Manager Shaun Wilkes said: “From where we were a few months ago it has been a great turnaround and testament to all the players who have bought into the work ethic we have tried to install.
