MUSIC. Live folk music is coming to Long Whatton. Saturday February 11 at 7.30pm (doors open from 7pm) at the Long Whatton Community Centre. Singer-songwriter Kelly Oliver is performing live at this unique venue, bar and refreshmen­ts available. Tickets £12, from the Long Whatton village shop, Manor Farm shop or by calling 07964 824 108.

The stand-up comedy night “Whatton Laughs” returns to the Community Centre on Friday February 24 at 7.30pm (doors open from 7pm).

SINGER DATE. Diseworth Blues will be entertaini­ng well known and hugely popular singer Ms Kyla Brox at their event on Saturday March 4 in the village hall. Kyla has headlined festivals and filled some of the most prestigiou­s concert halls in several parts of the world. Doors will open at 7pm and the show will start at 8pm. Tickets will cost £20 and can be reserved on 078731 435758.

And on Friday March 24 Thomas Atlas and his Band will be the attraction­s, with tickets at £18 available through the same phone number.

CHURCH THANKS. The parish church of St Michael and All Angels at Diseworth have thanked those people who helped them raise £170 for their funds by buying the Church Christmas cards…

BOXING DAY FUN RUN. Organisers of the annual and much loved Boxing Day Fun Run in Diseworth have announced that a total of £1306 was raised through entry fees, sponsorshi­p and raffles.

The cash is being divided among the four main village charities, the village school,, St Michael and All Angels parish church, the Heritage Centre and the village hall.
