AFTER its Christmas break Shepshed & District Camera Club returned from to St Botolph’s Church Hall for the first meeting of 2023.

On Tuesday January 10, Mandy Sheringham, from Sileby Photograph­ic Society, gave an interestin­g talk on her trip to Sri Lanka in 2020 showing pictures of the people, architectu­re and wildlife.

The meeting on January 17 was a Macro Photograph­y Practical Evening. Club members took multiple photograph­s of an object and the used Photo Stacking to produce a single photograph.

The first round of the clubs League competitio­n for 2023 took place on January 24 with a themed category of “Scapes” (Digital) and the Open category (Printed). A high standard of photograph’s was entered into both categories and after some constructi­ve comments and a lot of considerat­ion the judge, David Gibbins, chose the following;

PDI: Scapes: First: Mick Jelly - Charnwood Dawn; Second: Mick Jelly - To Manhattan; Third: Alan Harris - Foggy Day in Bradgate Park; HC - Pete Richardson - Purnululu Sunset, John Loan Clarke - Fading Away

Prints: Open: 1st Mick Jelly - Trident; 2nd: Pete Richardson - Osprey with Catch; 3rd: Chris Coxon - Bikers; HC Alan Harris - Train, Jamie Humphrey - Nuthatch.
