No surprises in Division 1 & 2 knockout quarters

THURSDAY evening saw the Quarter Finals of the Spot on Loughborou­gh & District Pubs & Clubs Darts League Division 1 & 2 and Division 3 & 4 Knockout Cups plus a couple of rearranged league games.

In the Division 1 & 2 Cup there was no major upsets as four teams from Division 1 progressed to the Semi Finals. Two of those teams will be from Shepshed. One Bull and Bush team went through and another one went out as the top two in Division 1 went head to head at the Bull and

Bush with second place Ring O Bells LH overcoming the league leaders Bull & Bush Lions 5-2. Paul Hutchins opened the evening with a 180 for the Lions and Mitch Gregory ended the match with a 108 finish for the Ring O Bells. That left the Laughing Boys to fly the flag in the last Four for the Bull & Bush as they beat the Black Swan Jolly Sailors 6-3. Paul Carvill with a 106 finish for the Laughing Boys. The Bottom Railway DS join them after being 3-1 down they beat Royal Oak Shooters 5-3. A maximum in the game for both sides Neil Pullen for the Shooters and Chris Peat for The Railway. Barrow Cons Club Mick the Flicks make up the semi final quartet with a 6-3 away win over the Top Railway Laffables.

In contrast there were two upsets in the Division 3 & 4 Cup with two Division 4 sides overcoming Division 3 opposition. The Tap & Clapper continued where they left off from the last round knocking out another higher league team 5-4 away to Fat Sam 26ers. L.Wright with a 180 for the Tap & Clapper. The other Division 4 side to join them are the Barrow Cons Club 26ers who beat The Dewdrop 7-2. In the all Division 3 tie Peacock A-Team beat Swan in the Rushes 5-3 and unfortunat­ely due to electrical problems the Spot on Waifs & Strays versus Three Nuns Doubleitus was called off and will have to be rearranged to find the final spot in the semi finals.

There were two rearranged league games in Division 2 the middle of the table clash was won 5-4 by The Plough Hopefuls over the Crown Shepshed with Sean Johnston hitting a 110 finish and White Hart Won Tons are now 19 points clear at the top of Division 4 after their 7-2 away win over Spot on No Stars. Ken Price with a 103 finish for the No Stars.
